Northwestern SPS online exam guide exam help

Northwestern University School of Professional Studies states that if a course requires a proctored exam, the student's identity is verified before the exam and activity during the exam is monitored by a remote proctor. SPS partners with Examity for online exam proctoring, and the Examity platform is integrated with Canvas so students can schedule and complete proctored exams through the course workflow. SPS also notes that not every course has a proctored exam, but all SPS programs include some courses that require one.

Current Northwestern SPS student guidance says students must use Google Chrome for the current Examity platform, create an Examity profile from the Canvas course link, confirm the profile time zone, upload a picture or photo ID, answer challenge questions, and run the system check on the same computer they plan to use for the exam. Exam cards show the exam window, entry deadline, and duration; live proctored exams must be scheduled, and SPS advises scheduling more than 24 hours before the exam to avoid additional fees. On exam day, students should open Canvas in Chrome 15 minutes before the scheduled time, click Connect to Proctor, complete the system check, add the Examity extension, allow camera access, answer a challenge question, review rules and special instructions, share the screen, and launch the test platform. Standard SPS Examity rules include testing alone, clearing the desk except approved materials, connecting the computer to power, no phones, no headphones, no dual monitors, no leaving the seat, no talking, and keeping webcam, speakers, and microphone on for the full exam.
