The New Jersey Board of Bar Examiners administers the New Jersey Uniform Bar Examination. NJBBE describes the UBE as the MBE, the MEE with six essay questions, and the MPT with two practical-lawyering writing tasks. New Jersey's published schedule places the MPT on Tuesday morning, the MEE on Tuesday afternoon, and the MBE in two 100-question sessions on Wednesday. NJBBE states that applicants must attain a combined total of 266 points or greater to pass, with the MBE weighted 50%, MEE 30%, and MPT 20%.

For admission, New Jersey requires character certification and either an MPRE score of 75 or higher or successful completion of an approved law school ethics course. The Board's laptop registration notice says applicants who plan to take the essay portion on a laptop must register for the Laptop Program and follow all software vendor instructions; for July exams, the approximate laptop registration and software download opening date is June 1, with timely, first-late, and final no-exceptions windows through June 30. NCBE announced that New Jersey will administer the NextGen UBE beginning in July 2028.
